Chili Habanero Red Savina Powder

Red Savina is an extremely spicy habanero with a fruity, apricot-like flavour and a floral aroma. Use in very small quantities and with extreme care.
Red Savina offers between 350,000 and 577,000 heat units on the Scoville scale. The breeding of this habanero (the hottest known) allowed it to hold the title of the hottest pepper in the world for 12 years, from 1994 to 2006.
The red Savina pepper is a habanero pepper (Capsicum chinense Jacquin), which has been selectively bred to produce a hotter, heavier and larger fruit, ultimately more powerful than its derivative (the red Caribbean habanero).
The name is derived from the combination of three terms: Habanero: refers to the species; Red: refers to the bright red color of the fruit; Savina is the name of the mother of Frank Garcia, the man who discovered it in 1989. It is also known as Dominician Devil’s Tongue Pepper or Ball of Fire.
Enjoy Red Savina’s wonderfully fruity spice to create spicy sauces for meat, chicken and burgers, soups, curries and marinades. Its notes are aromatic, almost reminiscent of an exotic fruit, with a strong and spicy taste, a few seconds later there is a strong sensation of spiciness.
The Habanero Red Savina is so spicy that special precautions must be taken in its handling. Wear gloves, at least to keep a major chili burn on your skin at bay. But if you are sensitive to capsaicin (the compound that makes chili peppers hot), then we recommend wearing goggles and even a face mask when handling Habanero Red Savina.
